For people who think better on paper.

Rock Paper Studio was created from a very specific frustration.

I loved the idea of folios, notebooks and analogue planning systems, but so much of what I found was too flimsy, too generic or too limited. I wanted something that could hold multiple notebooks straight out of the box, feel good to use and still look beautiful on a desk.

So I made it myself.

I’m Jillian, a learning designer, facilitator, writer and event director with more than fifteen years’ experience helping people think clearly, work better and turn ideas into action. I’ve worked with organisations including CommBank, UNSW, Monash University and Edith Cowan University, designing learning experiences around productivity, difficult conversations, design thinking and practical problem solving.

Before that, I spent a decade leading marketing and events for Moonlight Cinema and worked in the film and television industry in Australia.

That background isn’t incidental to Rock Paper Studio. It is the reason these tools are designed the way they are, with real thought given to how people work, plan, process and create.

I also host Me In A Year, formerly The Content Fix, a podcast about practical productivity and building intentionally. It has reached nearly 200,000 downloads, received dozens of five-star reviews from listeners around the world and connected me with a community of thoughtful people who want to create, organise and live with more intention.

Rock Paper Studio was created for that same kind of person.

The studio is based in Woodend, Australia, near Hanging Rock, which inspired the “Rock” in the name. “Paper” speaks to the analogue element at the centre of everything we make.

I believe paper still matters. It slows us down. It helps us think. It gives ideas somewhere to land.
